Oxford Time Wine Club
Classic regions of France mixed case, £95

There is no doubt that France, in overall terms, and especially at the top end, produces the best wine in the world.

This is the country that most of the new world producers look towards for inspiration.

France produces an amazing array of wines from many different vineyard areas, and has created fantastic wines for centuries.

These people know what they are doing when it comes to wine - and food for that matter. Here's a mouthwatering selection from some of the most classic regions.

This week's offer includes three of each of the following four bottles of wine: Sancerre Domaine Cherrier 2006, Loire Valley

This is a top-quality Sancerre from a small, well-run family estate in Amigny, just outside the town of Sancerre. Incredibly clean and refreshing, this wine has loads of crisp gooseberry fruit with a delightful touch of minerality too.

Macon-Lugny Montvallon 2006, Burgundy

Pleasingly ripe buttery fruit here in this classic example of Burgundy from the Cote Maconnais in southern Burgundy. The warm 2006 vintage has helped to produce a fruit-filled and creamy wine of excellent depth and flavour.

Domaine Rose-Dieu Cotes du Rhône 2004, Rhone Valley

An excellent example of mature Rhône from a great producer, this classic wine has soft mellow fruit flavours of redcurrant and spice - a velvety smooth and rich style with good rounded fruit.

Chateau Nardou 2005, Bordeaux

From the Cote de Francs, this gorgeous wine is a mixture of merlot and cabernet franc which has a lovely aromatic nose, good structured blackcurrant and plum fruit and a pleasant aspect of herbs - superb with beef, especially.
