Regional Spanish Reds mixed case, £75
Regional Spain produces a wide range of highly drinkable wines of real character, which despite mainly being made from the tempranillo and garnacha grape varieties, all have very different personalities. Rich, soft fruit and sheer drinkability are the hallmarks of these wines.
The Regional Spanish Reds mixed case includes three bottles each of the following four wines:
La Copa Garnacha 2005, Campo de Borja: White pepper and spice abound in this richly coloured wine with flavours of raspberry and cherry. This excellent ripe wine goes extremely well with light meat dishes, pasta or roasted vegetables.
Miralomonte 2006, Toro: From the area of Toro to the west of Madrid, this wine is made from the tinta de toro grape variety, which is the local name for the tempranillo grape of Rioja. Packed with full ripe fruit and flavours of blackcurrant it is a great match for stews or casseroles.
Calderona Roble 2004, Cigales: Made from 100 per cent tempranillo grapes, this wine shows rich flavours of strawberry, herbs and spices with undertones of caramel and some delightful floral aspects. Superb with roast chicken in particular.
Inurrieta Sur 2004, Navarra: Made in Inurrieta's ultra-modern new computerised winery, this blend of Mediterranean grape varieties produces an extremely well made, complex, floral and herby wine of real style and character. Great on its own or with red meat dishes and charcuterie.
