Classic Beaujolais mixed case, £78
The Beaujolais region stretches from the granite-based hills just south of Macon to the southern end of Burgundy and is famous for its relatively light and extremely fruity wines made from the Gamay grape variety. These are ultra fresh, aromatic wines that refresh the palate with wonderful vibrant fruit.
The Classic Beaujolais mixed case costs £78 and includes three bottles of each of the following four wines:
Beaujolais 2006, Loron et Fils: Loron are a sizeable négociant and vineyard owner with about 50 hectares of vines in Beaujolais. His purple-tinged wine is light, juicy and really refreshing with bright, vibrant fruit and delicious raspberry flavours.
Beaujolais-Villages 2006, Domaine du Tracot: Owned by the Dubost family, Domaine du Tracot's wine is deep purple-ruby in colour with aromas of black plums and raspberries. On the palate freshly crushed black cherry and raspberry fruit mixes with cinnamon and ground cloves - delicious.
Chiroubles 2005, Domaine du Moulin d'Eole
Philippe Guerin makes award-winning wines at the Domaine du Moulin d'Eole. This Chiroubles has incredible layers of complex plum, cherry and raspberry fruit along with a delightful floral aspect that gives a delicate perfume to the wine.
Morgon 2005, Domaine de Robert: From one of the ten villages that make up the 'Crus' of Beaujolais, Patrick Brunet has produced a wine from 65-year-old vines that has stunning aromatic flavours of ripe plums, raspberries and cherries. A fuller, deeper and complex style of Beaujolais.
