CRICKET: Sandford seal title

Sandford St Martin are Division 3 champions with two weeks to spare after they beat Dinton by eight runs in a game that ebbed and flowed throughout.

David Lowery's 84 not out elevated Sandford's total from a reasonable score to a good one, with 23 runs coming from the final two overs before they closed on 234-5.

Mark Ludlow (39) gave Dinton a flying start, but wickets then fell to James Risbridger (4-106) and with debutant keeper Neil Cox claiming five victims, the visitors were all out for 226.

Hanborough are up to second after thrashing Kingston Bagpuize by nine wickets to leave their victims in danger of relegation for the second year in a row.

Matthew Busby took 4-25 to rip the heart out of Kingston's usually reliable upper order and reduce them to 103 all out.

He then clubbed 60 not out as the visitors enjoyed an early win.

Cumnor 2nd are the only team beneath Kingston, but kept their survival hopes alive by holding on for a draw at home to unbeaten Morris Motors Exiles.

The Exiles declared on 258-9 after 48 overs thanks to Wasim Mehmood (63) and Tallat Mehmood (45).

Lanky seamer Gus Shrimpton took 4-106 for Cumnor and then watched George Munsey hit 52 and Pete Burt 35, but Zia Hamid (4-48) left the hosts hanging on at 212-8.

Cropredy climbed out of the drop zone after their eight-wicket demolition of Bledlow Village.

George Harman's unbeaten 55 gave Bledlow's 147-7 a modicum of respectability, but their total was put in perspective by Mike Amos-Simpson (63) and Mike Naylor (51no), who took the visitors to 148-2 and victory inside 30 overs.

Witney Mills are also breathing easier after they pulled off a shock win at promotion-chasing Wolverton Town.

Steve Kelly took 5-19 and Jim Skelson 4-28 as Town were skittled for 114, then Kelly hit 34 not out to guide Mills home by six wickets.
