Oxford Brookes avoided the flooded river scene by racing in the BUSA Head at Nottingham last Sunday - and had a successful day, writes Mike Rosewell.
Their top men's crew won the championship eights and they also won the junior and novice classes.
Brookes' top women's boat achieved second place in their championship class, while there were first places for the novice eight and the coxless four.
Meanwhile, the boys of St Edward's and Abingdon schools also managed to get some competition by going to the Worcester Head on Saturday.
Over a long course, Teddies won the junior 16 eights and junior 16 fours.
Abingdon's junior 15 eight finished second to Shrewsbury, while the St Edward's first eight came fifth overall.
Oxford University's Torpids eights event on the Isis, with Oriel defending both the men's and women's first divisions, was scheduled to start on Wednesday. But the organisers, looking at the stream, cancelled the first two days.
