The Wychwood knocked last year's runners-up Magnolia Park out of the BB&O Hillman Trophy at the first round stage.

Victories from Jimmy Kearns, Phil Smith and Terry Johnson, plus halves from Paul O'Hare and Ian Jarvis earned the hosts a 4-3 success.

But Wychwood lost 3.5-1.5 in a friendly at Brailes with Mike Taylor and Steve Pratley winning and John Hurren and Andy Miller halving.

Eddie Grimes won Wychwood's National Pro-Am qualifier and will play in a regional final at Frilford Heath with club pro Adam Souter.

  • Frilford Heath ladies had a convincing win in the fourth round of the Mail On Sunday Classic, defeating Buckingham 4-1.

Jane Binning, Kate Evans, Sue Russell and Andrea James all won their matches despite giving shots to the opposition.

Anchor player Annie Gowing (five) had a tough battle against eight-handicapper Kerry Sumner before losing out 2 & 1.

  • Two professionals will attempt to play rounds at all four Leaderboard-owned courses, including The Oxfordshire, in one day for charity.

John Tolliday and Craig Howell, from Dale Hill, East Sussex will undertake the challenge on June 9 to support their club captains' charities DEBRA and Cancer Research.

They will start at The Oxfordshire, then travel to Sandford Springs, Hampshire, Chart Hills, Kent and finish at Dale Hill.

Tolliday said: "We are really excited about taking on the Leaderboard Challenge.

"It is a big feat and hopefully by the time we get back to Dale Hill there will be lots of people cheering us on."

To sponsor them, call 01580 202105 and ask for Kelly, or email kellyl@dalehill.co.uk
