Home Counties Premier League - Div 1

Benji Hector led Banbury to second spot with a match-winning century in their seven-wicket victory at Reading.

Hector's unbeaten 114 steered his side to 254-3 as he and Jamie Noble (58no) put on 149 for the fourth wicket.

Banbury are now just three points behind new leaders Oxford and 12 ahead of third-placed Radlett.

So the prospects look good for an Oxfordshire champion with three matches remaining.

Having been inserted, Reading owed much to a 101-run eighth-wicket partnership between Richard Kirk (61) and Raheel Zaman (50no).

Medium pacer Craig Haupt was promoted to open the bowling, but it was Damien Shirazi (3-50) and Luke Ryan (2-49) who did most of the damage for Banbury.

Shirazi and Haupt fell cheaply in the visitors' reply, but Hector and Noble finished off the job after Chris Smith had made 33.
