Barry Quinn and James Constable are battling to play in Oxford United's televised Blue Square Premier game at Torquay.
Quinn came off with an ankle injury after scoring in United's 2-1 win over Rushden on Saturday, while leading scorer Constable missed the game to rest a knee problem.
But Patterson would like to have them both available for the tough test against a Gulls outfit that have now won four and drawn one of their last five matches.
"James Constable hasn't trained fully yet but he's been doing some aerobic work which is quite strenuous."
Quinn was rated 50-50, and it's believed Patterson may be able to bring Karleigh Osborne back on loan to Oxford from Brentford if the Irishman is ruled out.
He added: "I'd like to have Constable available for Torquay if I can because he's able to handle the physical side of it up front and I think it's a game that could suit him."
