Staff chased shoplifters

POLICE today appealed for witnesses after £300 worth of Rimmel cosmetics was stolen from Boots in Witney.

PC Andy Ball, based at Witney police station, said: "The offenders were chased by staff through the centre of Witney and most of the stolen items were dropped in the process.

"It was market day in Witney so the town was very busy. If anyone witnessed the incident I would encourage them to contact police.

The incident happened at about 2.10pm on Thursday, May 8.

The offenders got into a waiting car and were followed by police on the A40, heading towards Oxford. They were arrested at the Woodstock Road roundabout, Oxford.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact PC Ball via Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0800 555 111. If you don't want to speak to police and don't want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

A 33-year-old woman and two men, aged 37 and 43, were arrested in connection with the incident. They have been bailed pending further inquiries.
