Stream clear to cut floods
A VILLAGE stream has been cleared of obstructions as part of the Environment Agency's maintenance programme following last summer's floods.
Tree clearance and removal of vegetation has been carried out on Great Brook at Aston, from the Isle of White Bridge on Buckland Road to the next road bridge in Chimney.
Ongoing maintenance of the Great Brook was just one of a number of recommendations included in the Environment Agency's review into flooding in Aston last July.
David McKnight, a flood risk engineer at the agency, said: "Even this work would have made little difference last July, given the intensity of the rain falling on an already saturated catchment."

Maybe if a few farmers got on and did a bit of ditch clearing like they used to in the old days these floods wouldnt be so widespread.
