Election: Tories suffer in Oxford
 |
| Tia MacGregor |
The Conservatives suffered embarrassing losses in the city elections - with both their councillors losing their seats in spectacular fashion.
Both Tia MacGregor and Paul Sargent defected from the Liberal Democrats to sit as Independents and then Tories in a high-profile switch that prompted a visit from Tory leader David Cameron.
Neither Mr Sargent or Mrs MacGregor were elected as Tories.
Paul Sargent lost to Lib Dem Stephen Brown and Tia Macgregor lost to Labour's Laurence Baxter.

Terry Chandler must be daft. These two unprincipled opportunists have got their verdict from the electorate. Bye-bye.

The musical chairs game is over at last!
Defect, Defect again, and hope they have made the correct decision.
Wrong answer this time and the electrate has reflected this.
GOOD!

Both Labour and the LD's ran the election campaigns in both wards to the detriment of some other seats, which is reflected sadly in the losses to Labour that we've seen.
Despite their perceived disloyalty to the LD's, both Paul Sargent and Tia MacGregor were hard working campaigners for the residents of their wards no matter what their political affiliations were.
Dr MacGregor also campaigned on and was successful on many issues neither the Labour Councillors or the LD's had the guts to pursue.

I didn't get a single leaflet or vist from the Tories in my area so assumed they didn't even believe in themselves.
Fortunately I got enough flyers from Labour promising to sort out the (perfectly adequate) fortnightly bin collections to fill my green recycling box and blow half way down the road.

I have noticed ex Lib Dem councilors who are connected with the taxi trade in Oxford have recently switched sides to Labour --- could this be their way of trying to influence the councils decision on de-restricting taxi numbers in Oxford?

In Jericho and Osney, three of the four candidates didn't deliver leaflets, call at my doorstep, or publish anything on their local party website. After hours of Googling, I gave up. Did they really not WANT to be elected? Forget "voter apathy". The problem here is candidate apathy.

No.
Do you live in Oxford? No.
Do you ever provide any evidence supporting your bizarre (and often libelous...)claims? No.
Do you understand the difference between racism and expecting all British people to live by the basic set of common laws and values, regardless of colour, race, religion or family origin? No.
At least while you're making completely erroneous statements about Oxford residents, you're not researching obscure reasons why child abuse isn't harmful, so I won't get too upset...

So ex-councillor Sargent's grand plans came to nought then?
Thoroughly deserved!
