Election: Lib Dem defector loses seat

Paul Sargent, who crossed the floor to switch his allegiance from the Liberal Democrats to the Conservatives, has lost his seat.

The seat has been won by the Lib Dem candidate Stephen Brown.

Mr Sargent's 'defection' caused outrage among some voters who felt they had selected a Lib Dem candidate, only to see their area represented by a Tory.
