Extradition decision delayed

A man convicted of negligent manslaughter after a road crash in Greece 11 years ago will have to wait four weeks for an official announcement on whether moves to extradite him have been dropped.

Paul Pettinger, now 36, of Woodfield, Banbury, crashed a motorbike and left 18-year-old pillion passenger Jonathan Trueman in the roadside in Zakinthos in 1997.

Mr Trueman, who died ten days after the crash of a head injury, was left lying in a ditch for six hours before he was discovered.

Pettinger paid a fine imposed in Greece and was expecting to have the extradition moves dropped at court yesterday.

However, the hearing was adjourned until next month at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court.
