It was good to see that the council is looking at ways to develop the old school sites. I feel we should encourage the development of the area in Furzehill Road as the perfect spot for more elderly accommodation, similar to that at Fairbanks Lodge.
There is a need to replace the nursing home that closed down last year, and to provide a day centre for the elderly.
This site is perfect for the elderly, as it is in close proximity to the other essential services like shops, buses and the railway station.
This would also allow elderly tenants that are at present in large houses to move, and allow families into those desperately needed larger properties.
Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who supported me during the election period.
