Lewis guns down the sick Saints

5:16pm Wednesday 16th May 2001

London Colney Amber U11s took maximum points from a double header against St Albans City South U11s at the weekend.

The Ambers won the first game 4-0 before notching up a 5-2 victory in the second.

In the first match Tom Hanson's excellent hat-trick established Colney's lead.

His first goal, a corner, ricocheted off a City player before beating the keeper. Hanson's second strike was also from a corner. He completed his hat-trick with a free kick from the edge of the box.

Colney's fourth goal was scored by Andrew John after he had latched on to a Filipe Poeira through ball.

Colney turned on the style in the second game. Their first goal was scored by Lewis Wynne following a good run by Dominic Easter. It was Easter who delivered Colney's second goal.

City pulled one back but Colney soon restored their advantage through Wynne. And Wynne completed his hat-trick by chipping past the stranded keeper. The on-fire Colney man struck again to complete the Ambers' tally.

*Colney's U10 Ambers will be sharing the Challenge Cup with Aldenham Warriors following a 0-0 (aet) draw in the competition's final. Under Challenge Cup rules, a penalty shoot-out is not permitted.
