Oxford taxi firm raided in early hours

Armed robbers left a man with head injuries during a raid on an Oxford taxi office in the early hours of this morning.
Two men raided Radio Taxis, in Magdalen Road, East Oxford, at about 1.30am.
A 24-year-old radio operator was attacked with weapons and suffered a cut to his head and other injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he needed stitches to a wound.
Det Insp Simon Morton said: “The offenders are believed to be white, aged in their late teens, early twenties, and were wearing dark hooded tops and dark gloves.
“I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Oxford in the early hours of this morning and saw two men acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.
“We are not linking the robbery to other incidents that have taken place involving taxi drivers in the city.
“I would like to reassure the taxi companies and the public that we are doing everything we can to identify the people responsible for this violent crime.”
Cash was stolen, but police would not reveal how much or what weapons were used, for “operational reasons”.
