Plans for a £2.1m redevelopment of Oxford's OFS Studio have been given the go-ahead.
Funding for the scheme was awarded by the Government Places of Change Programme earlier this year and last night councillors agreed to go ahead with the plans.
It will completely redevelop the centre, between Gloucester Green and George Street, retaining the 169-seat theatre and art gallery and building a new cafe, but increasing homeless provision in the city.
Once complete, the new centre will offer a new Skylight centre, a learning and activity centre offering engagement, education and employment for homeless and non-homeless provision.
It will also become the first city centre offering access to cross-arts provision.
It is anticipated work is likely to start next year.
