A summary of policing in Thames Valley is to be delivered to almost 900,000 households throughout September.

The 12-page booklet contains information on the activities of Thames Valley Police Force and Thames Valley Police Authority over the past 12 months.

It is a statutory requirement of the authority to produce the policing summaries.

The same format as last year will be used. There will be five different documents, one for each of the force's Basic Command Units - Oxfordshire, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire East and Berkshire West.

Christine Weston, chairman of the Thames Valley Police Authority, said: "Although we are required to produce the summaries by the Government, it is something which I am very pleased to do.

"Posting them through the door gives us an opportunity to get into the homes of people throughout the region and show the public what policing in Thames Valley is about.

Why Bother ?
we all know what the police do - it's on the telly every single night telling us how heroic they are.
Meanwhile, somewhere else in Oceania - an old lady gets mugged (while the cops try to catch someone going 1 mile over the speed limit.)
What a bunch of utter tossers they are.

Will the police deliver these leaflets or have they placed this contract with the Royal Mail, another organisation that concentrates on non core business. Garbage in garbage out. Hopefully these leaflets can be recycled or biodegradeable in landfill.

Here we go again. Any story about the police generates this kind of negative and inaccurate comments. Nobody has ever been stopped, chased, arrested etc for going 1mph above the speed limit! 5 mph and above yes they have but there is evidence to show how dangerous that can be in a 30 mph limit. When will you bozos realise that it the speeders on local roads that are killing and injuring thousands of people every year in this country. Why is it so hard to stay at the speed limit and if you can’t then take responsibility for doing that. I have to say that I think the leaflet campaign is a waste of time and money but it is coming from the right place; trying to reach out to the people they serve. This would be better done by seeing more police out on the streets talking directly to the community. Unfortunately that requires a lot more investment!

Is this going to be a true account of what they do? If so will it mention the failure to turn up for emergency calls in the area? The large increase in crime in Banbury? The large increase in complaints made against the police in Oxfordshire? The inefficiency of Thames valley police to deal with local crim? And the fact they NEVER show any respect or help to the public? Or will it be all made up??? I can guess what will be in their leaflet- the words 'ficticous' springs to mind!!

What a waste ot time.We all know what the police get up to.We all know the standard of policing in this town is very poor & far below the average.Who have they got to write the leaflets? Let me think- the police themselves, well ,well, well, are we going to believe what we read in them? I think NOT.

The police writing a book? Two questions there:
1.Is this ANOTHER excuse for them to sit in the police station and not be on the streets?
2.Who's going to teach them to write?
