A LORRY driver died after his vehicle overturned on the A34 today.
The incident happened near the A34/M40 Junction 9 roundabout at 5.30am.
The road was closed this morning with a diversion in place and motorists were being warned to avoid the area or expect long delays.
The 62-year-old man was believed to have been trapped in his cab after the vehicle collided with the crash barrier and a street light.
Despite the efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The A34 is closed northbound from Weston-on-the-Green to the slip road on to the M40.
Traffic was being diverted and a police spokesman said at 10am motorists should avoid the area "for the foreseeable future".
PC Bob Merrill, investigating the collision, said: "The articulated lorry has a white cab and had Globetrotter' along the side of the container.
"I appeal to anyone who may have seen the lorry or witnessed this collision to contact me."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is urged to contact PC Merrill at Thames Valley Police on 08458 505505.
